" We are all different, but there's something FANTASTIC about that, isn't there?"
This was one of my most anticipated weddings of the year. I am a huge Wes Anderson fan, as Ashleigh and Scott are. The details and creative minds of these two blow me away. When Ash told me her theme I was beyond thrilled, The Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of my favorite stop motion animated films. October was the most perfect months to capture such a party. I channeled my inner Wes as I shot, direct on, in a ton of the images I am sharing. Everything was so detailed.. from Ashleigh's naturally shed deer antler earrings and bouquet, to Scott's fox tie clip and beagle socks.
The wedding is based in one of our favorite Michigan cities, Detroit. The Dossen ship Museum hosted the ceremony, on the little gem of an island in the Detroit River, Belle Isle. As the ceremony was short and sweet, Ashleigh and Scott's guests were able to take a tour of the museum after. We adventured around the island a bit before the ceremony for the first look. I am a huge fan of a first look, as this gives us all so much time in our day to just spend together.
Ashleigh and Scott were fully prepared to make the transformation into woodland creatures as this was an animal themed wedding. Yes!, we had woodland animal masks for the entire bridal party. One check mark off the bucket list for weddings I didn't know I had. The non traditional feel of this wedding WAS simply fantastic! Detroit's Punch Bowl Social was the destination for the remainder of the evening. The first bowl instead of a first dance, having your niece cut the naked wedding cake with fox toppers, an arcade to play in, gifting a soundtrack as your party favor and the Z Lot alley. Fantastic Mr. Fox Detroit Style.
"We're cussing married!"
